The term Costa Brava includes the coast of three Girona counties, although the 20 routes included in this guide don’t go beyond the scope of the county of Baix Emporda. The interior and coastal landscape preserves the testimony of those people who, before the Iberians and throughout history, have made a significant impression on the numerous archaeological sites and on civilian, military or religious buildings. The routes chosen are, at their majority, the marked trails GR, PR and SL; when this is not the case, the detailed description provided by the guide will avoid and remove doubts.
